Preparing your skin is a must
No matter how good is the quality of the makeup you are using or how well you do it, if you do not prep your skin properly before starting with makeup, it is certainly going to look cakey. Your makeup regime should start with washing & exfoliating your face followed by moisturizing.
Tip
Do not start applying your makeup right after using the moisturizer, give it at least 5 minutes time to sink in. If you are going out into the sun & the weather is humid, you might skip the moisturizer for Umbrella Sunscreen SPF 75.
Priming will improve the stay-time of your makeup
Once your skin is ready, follow the proper sequence of makeup application. If your makeup melts quickly & after few hours it is all gone, you should use a makeup primer. Choose a primer that is suitable for your skin type & apply it on your skin before starting with the foundation.
Tip
In place of a makeup primer, you can also use Aloe Vera gel & dab it all over your face before starting with the foundation. However, give it sufficient time to get absorbed into the skin before applying the foundation.
Concealer or Foundation which one should come first?
Well, this is quite a confusing question for many makeup enthusiast & in reality, you can use either of the ways, that is, foundation first followed by the concealer or concealer first followed by the foundation depending on your skin needs & the type of foundation you are using.
Tip
If your foundation gives full coverage and you do not have much blemishes or dark circles on your skin, you really need not to apply the concealer first. You can simply go with the foundation & then touch up with the concealer on the top only if needed. On the other hand, if your foundation gives light to semi-coverage or if you have much blemishes or dark circles to hide, then first start with the concealer & then the foundation.
Blending is the key
Blending your makeup properly with due time is really important, even if you are opting for light makeup. If you are using a sponge or a brush it will be much easier to achieve the perfect end result.
Tip
Instead of rubbing the makeup in, like a moisturizer, try dabbing it in skin this will improve the final look & improve the coverage.
Contouring & Highlighting works best only if you are a pro
All you web addicts must be already quite acquainted with the makeup theories like contouring & highlighting. Well, proper contouring can actually give your face the best dimension, but if you are not a pro, going wrong with it is very easy.
Tip
Instead of going for full-fledged contouring just highlight the bridge of your nose, the brow bones & the cheek bones. It will add to your overall appearance
Proper balance is important
While doing your makeup keep in mind that the whole objective of makeup is to look more perfect, not to look like someone else. Your makeup should be a good match with the time of the day & the occasion.
Tips
- For the day time, choose light, more natural makeup & accentuate it with nude lips
- For the night time makeup, if you are going for bold eyes, keep the lips subtle & vice versa
- Using the same lip tint on your cheeks is a good idea to get a natural blushed look
