Winter is the party time & party means dressing up & dazzling in your new dresses. Dark colored clothes go so well with the season but if dandruff is a problem for you during winter or throughout the year, you just cannot help but think twice before picking up those party wears. No matter how beautiful your dress is, it is sure not to look good with white, scaly dandruff sticking all over. So, before you get ready for the party time, make sure that your dandruff is gone or at least well treated.

Dry, flaky dandruff is often a result of poor circulation in the scalp & use of chemical filled hair cosmetics. Insufficient rinsing of shampoo or other hair care products (which is more common during winter) is the other common cause of the problem; lifestyle & junk eating often adds to that. Winter makes the scalp more dry & naturally the problem is aggravated. This type of dandruff can even exaggerate with medicated shampoos that contain Sulphur solutions or salicylic acid.

Essential oil formulas are particularly effective in treating dry dandruff that affects 8 out of 10 people during winter. There are essential oils that can help in boosting circulation & nourishment of the scalp which naturally helps in eliminating dandruff. Some essential oils help in rebalancing the natural pH of the scalp which is important for a healthy scalp, free from infections. Essential oils with anti-fungal & anti-microbial properties like Tea tree oil are particularly suited for use in essential oil blends for treating dry dandruff.
A regular treatment with essential oil blend can be most effective in treating dandruff during winter. If your normal anti-dandruff shampoo is not able to give you relief from dandruff, try out the next treatment religiously & you can see results within two weeks.

Take 6 spoons of Olive oil in a clean, glass bowl. Add 3 drops each of lavender & tea tree oil to it. Then add 6 drops of rosemary & 4 drops of cedarwood oil to the mixture. Blend well & your anti-dandruff hair oil is ready.
Add 3-4 drops of the same blend of essential oils & carrier oil to one jug of clean water for preparing the rinse. You should prepare the rinse right before washing your hair.
Massage the prepared oil blend onto your scalp with light circular motion. Leave it on over-night. In the morning use a mild hair cleanser to remove the oil & rinse thoroughly to make sure that no shampoo is left behind. After washing your hair, rinse with the essential oil mixed water prepared previously. Do not wash it off.
This treatment should be used every alternate day till the condition improves & then can be reduced to twice a week.

To get rid of dry dandruff during winter, you can prepare an essential oil tonic at home by adding few essential oils with distilled water. Find the formula below,
Take 300ml distilled water in a glass bottle. Add 2 spoonful Apple cider vinegar to it. Next add 5 drops each of cedarwood, rosemary & lavender essential oils to the bottle. Mix well & store in a cool place away from sunlight.
Massage this anti-dandruff hair tonic on your scalp at least twice a day & leave on. Wash your hair with a mild hair cleanser daily or on alternate days.
Your diet & lifestyle has a serious impact on your scalp condition. So, while you are following these treatments, it is best to bank on a healthy diet that includes sufficient fresh fruits, colorful vegetables & proteins along with sufficient water. Also make sure that you sleep enough every day, as lack of sleep can add to stress levels, which can exaggerate scalp or hair conditions like dandruff.
